내게 주는 교훈

What lesson is God teaching me?
Vv. 13-16 David, who has heard of Absalom’s rebellion, rather than defending it flees Jerusalem leaving behind only 10 royal concubines. David’s miserable escape was also in the prophecy of the prophet Nathan. David accepted Absalom’s rebellion as God’s disciplinary punishment to him (see 16:10). Do I simply think that the things that happen around me are caused by a particular person? Or do I think these things are caused by God? Shouldn’t I consider the hand of God when I’m being disciplined by someone who makes life difficult?


Vv. 15-18,21 Contrary to the son who indulged in disobedience, there were those who were loyal to the king during this time of distress. At that time, there was a Pelethite, who was exiled from his homeland to Israel, who wanted to carry David’s burden. This man, after hearing about David’s situation, led 600 soldiers and came to guard David. However, David had forfeited all his political power and had become nothing more than a vagabond. For Ittai the Gittite, following David meant that he could lose everything he had accumulated in Israel. Also, Ittai the Gittite had nothing to do with David's problem with Absalom. However, Ittai the Gittite vows to protect David even if it costs him his life. What is my attitude towards God like when I am in a crisis or in suffering?



Vv. 19,20 Although in gratitude for following a runaway vagabond, David was genuinely worried about Ittai the Gittite and encouraged him to return to Hebron and serve King Absalom. David prays for God’s grace and truth to be with Ittai the Gittite. Do I also have the ability to care for others when I am in great need of help? Even though you lose everything and end up in the wilderness, are you not rich if you are not impoverished?


내게 주시는 교훈은 무엇입니까?
13-16절 압살롬의 반역 소식을 전해들은 다윗은 예루살렘 성을 사수하기보다는, 후궁 10명만 남겨두고 도망하였습니다. 다윗의 비참한 도피 생활은 나단 선지자의 예언이기도 합니다. 다윗은 압살롬의 반역을 하나님의 징계로 받아들였습니다(16:10 참조). 나는 내 주변에 일어나는 일을 단순히 사건의 주체자를 사람으로 생각합니까? 아니면 하나님으로 생각하고 있습니까? 나를 힘들게 하는 사람을 통해 징계하시는 하나님의 손길을 보아야 하지 않을까요?


15-18,21절 불효를 자행하는 아들과는 달리 고난 가운데에서도 왕에게 충성하는 신복들이 있었습니다. 잇대는 블레셋 가드에서 이스라엘로 정치적 망명을 하여 다윗의 부하로 있던 사람이었습니다. 그는 다윗의 소식을 듣고 600명의 군사를 거느리고, 다윗을 호위하기 위해 왔습니다. 하지만 다윗은 현실적으로 모든 정치적인 힘을 상실하고 쫓겨난 나그네에 불과했습니다. 다윗을 따른다는 것은 잇대가 지금까지 이스라엘에서 쌓아온 것을 모두 잃어버릴 수 있는 중대한 순간이었습니다. 그리고 다윗과 압살롬의 문제는 정치적인 망명자 잇대와는 무관한 것일 수도 있습니다. 그러나 잇대는 다윗 왕을 위하여 자신의 목숨도 아까워하지 않겠다고 맹세합니다. 위기나 고난의 때에 주님에 대한 나의 태도는 어떻습니까?


19,20절 쫓겨난 나그네를 따르는 잇대가 고맙기도 하지만, 다윗 역시 잇대를 진심으로 염려하면서, 돌아가서 헤브론의 왕인 압살롬을 섬길 것을 권면합니다. 다윗은 잇대를 위하여 하나님의 은혜와 진리가 함께하기를 기원합니다. 가장 도움이 필요한 상황 속에서도 상대를 배려하는 다윗의 능력이 내게도 있습니까? 모든 것을 잃고 다시 광야로 들어가는 생활 속에서도 궁색하지 않는 자가 참된 부자가 아닐까요?

손해에 연연하지 않고, 일관된 자세로 헌신하게 하소서.
