What lesson is God teaching me?
Vv. 44, 45 Solomon asked that whenever Solomon followed the way of the Lor=
d (wherever he was led) and went to war with the enemies, that if he turned=
to the capital (Jerusalem) and the temple and prayed that God answer him. =
This was because success and defeat in war was determined by God. Even no=
w God sends us out into spiritual warfare. We are in a battle against Sata=
n in our family, workplace, school and even in our church. When we realize=
that we cannot do anything with our own strength and ask for God=A1=AFs he=
lp we will be victorious. Is the word =A1=B0pray=A1=B1 written on your to-=
do list for today?
V. 46 There is no one that does not sin. Solomon knew the tendency of man=
and also knew the warning written in Deuteronomy (30:1-10). He knew that =
because of sin it was possible for God to allow Israel to be taken over by =
the hands of their enemies. The prisoners in Babylon (the first readers) c=
omplained, =A1=B0Why must we suffer because of the sins of our ancestors?=
=A1=B1 But by reading the prayer of Solomon they may realize that they mus=
t not blame their ancestors but repent. Are you facing hardships? Instead=
of blaming others, will you not check your own attitude before God?
Vv. 47, 48 The road to return home from the land of their conquerors is a =
road to return to the Lord. To emphasize this point he alternates these wo=
rds three times in these two verses. Do you feel like you have been cast a=
way far from God? What is it that God wants you to realize? Is there a si=
n that you must confess? Is this not the time that you must bend your knee=
in prayer?
Lord, please give me another chance.
