에스겔 30:1-30:26 본문보기
Destruction for Those Allied with Egypt
The third revelation regarding judgment against Egypt is made into a lament, described in 29:1-6 and reproduced here. Ezekiel delivers God’s will by speaking about the collapse of Egypt, and the nations allied with it.
Who is God like?
Verses 2, 6- He speaks and speaks again. There is no difference in the message found in chapters 29 and 30, but the form is different. Chapter 30 is written in the form of a lament and is a message filled with emotion. Also, the reason the word of judgment is continually repeated is because Judah and the people that were taken captive did not rely on God but turned to Egypt for help. This was what caused their destruction. The reason this is repeated is for the people to clearly realize that fact and repent.
Verses 10-19- God personally does the work of using King Nebuchadnezzar and the Babylonian army to judge Egypt. To show that He is in control and will judge all the cities in the land, God once again stresses that it is work that “He” has done. Meditating on the Word daily helps us to open our spiritual eyes to the work that God is doing in our lives and in the world.
Verses 13-19- God takes the cities in Egypt that committed idolatry (Memphis, Upper Egypt, Zoan, Pelusium, Heliopolis, and Bubastis) and pours out His wrath upon them. They are therefore completely destroyed. He devastates those who worship idols and has them go through tragic hardships. What reaction are you showing to the Word as it clearly shows us the character of God?
Verses 20-26- “By a mighty hand and outstretched arm” (Dt 4:34), God, who led His people during the exodus, will break pharaoh’s two arms and make King Nebuchadnezzar’s arms strong. But the sword that King Nebuchadnezzar will draw against Egypt is the sword of the Lord. God will also have the Egyptians wander like refugees.
Help me to not associate with the things that will rot and disappear, but only stay united with You.
