The Example Set By Timothy and Epaphroditus
Paul recommends Timothy and Epaphroditus to the church in Philippi and tells the church that these two are great models to follow as they are obedient to the cross and live lives worthy of the gospel.

Who is God like?
Verse 27- God showed mercy and healed Epaphroditus who developed a severe illness while he was nursing Paul. In the same way He saved Jesus, who did not look out for Himself but died for all of humanity, God does not turn away from those who seek the way of the cross. There are times when we need to sacrifice ourselves like Epaphroditus and not receive any compliments or compensation for continuing in the way of the Lord. But God knows all the hard work that we put in and will not allow it to end with worry.

What lesson is God teaching me?
Verses 19, 20- What Paul longed for was not news of his release but news of how the Philippians were growing in their faith. What he was interested in was not himself, who was in prison, but the Philippians who were not in prison. Timothy had the same heart as Paul, so he also worried about the believers in Philippi. The two were living examples of “like minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose” (2:2-4).
Verses 21-24- Disputes made Paul worry (1:15-17), and unlike those who looked out for themselves and caused difficulties in the community through quarrels (2:3), Timothy was focused on the work of God and on the gospel. Through training, Timothy was following the example set by his spiritual father Paul. The leader and the people God wants to send to your community are those that consider the gospel of Jesus Christ as more important than their own work in life.
